School Buses in the US

Do school buses in the US do pick-up/drop-down at other than designated bus stops? He wants to know how realistic the (often seen) scene of a bus picking up or dropping off a student right outside their front door might be.

School buses in the areas I'm familiar with have their own pickup points that have nothing to do with designated city bus stops. So, yes, it is possible that a student might be let off just outside their own house. But it depends on a whole lot of factors.
