Reenactment stuff
Feb. 3rd, 2010 01:23 amI should go to bed... but I went to Soldier's Council tonight and the Captayne talked to me about restarting our dance group so I've been looking up links. Can't find the one I wanted that mentioned the change from stepping left foot first (as in renaissance dance) to stepping right foot first, I think the site was on Geocities. Bum.
I did find a bunch of new ECD vids on youtube though, and this dance looks promising. It's in Playford's first edition too, which is good, because that's the one we mostly use.

Date: 2010-02-03 12:35 pm (UTC)Hey! *g*
Wonderful that we share pastimes as well as slash. I love all sorts of dancing, unfortunately I'm (happily) saddled with a bloke who has a certain amount of enthusiasm but not so much of the sense of rhythm and precision needed for ECD. Luckily I have friends who adore dancing so I can get my fun and keep the bloke :)

Date: 2010-02-04 12:54 am (UTC)Not so unusual where I came from (NZ, country). The local hall committee organised dance lessons for the teens, that's where I learned ballroom. Most of the lads were there because their parents dragged them along, or because they wanted to meet the lasses, but they seemed to enjoy themselves anyway.

I now have visions of Macklin trying to teach them the foxtrot *g*. Survival dancing - why not!
