It is warm and sunny and I'm wearing sandals for the first time in months. Starting to think about salads instead of cooked veg.

The garden needs a clean-up. The jacaranda is shedding fronds all over and the driveway is covered in weeds. There is more wildlife about: possums thumping around at night, a largish skink sunning himself on the lawn yesterday and the swamp hens are becoming more active.

(not so good) The little white terrier from next door has taken to crapping on our lawn. He also leaves his bones and things here, probably because next door's yard is mostly paved over. I almost speared myself on an ex-lamb chop last week. Think we'll have to start remembering to close the gate. No loss, he's quite an aloof, antisocial little creature - he just wanders in, snuffles about, lifts his leg on the citrus tree & departs with barely a glance at the people.

Shopping. Cleaning. Then writing. Guess which I'd rather be doing, huh.

Fall is approaching this side of the world. The geese are doing practice runs from the lake, over our house, and onwards, then returning at night. Lots of honking in the early morning!!! Our days are getting cooler and our nights sometime very cold - and whereas you are putting on sandels I am trying to find shoes. Almost time to catch the goldfish from the pond and bring them in :) I must put a net over the pond this weekend as the leaves will start falling soon, and I hate fishing them out - so thought I would try the net method this time round. Our racoons are having a field day trying to find winter quarters. The garage seems favourite at the moment, so have to make sure we net the back doors. My garden shed was being investigated by a large male the other day, so will have to deal with that as well.
