We watched a Sweeney episode tonight: 'Poppy'.

Something about the line spoken by Kay Nolan (actress Helen Gill) just after the start of part 2: "I know what you must think of me", triggered a memory. Different actress, different show (presumably more recent as well) but the same accent/delivery and timbre in her voice. Can't think who, though.

Any ideas?

*LOL* I was in bed when it finally dawned on me - she sounded like Jo Mills from JDD! It was uncanny, she had that same sort of quaver to her voice!
