Yes, I love 'Zulu' too! One of Michael Caine's most celebrated roles. And I liked this piece of trivia:

"Because of the strict apartheid laws enforced in South Africa at the time, the Zulu extras could not be paid equivalent rates to their white counterparts. To get around this, director Cy Endfield gifted all of the animals bought for this film (particularly cows) to the tribes - a gift far more valuable to them than the money that had been denied them."

Oh, I think I do remember reading that somewhere. I think I also remember reading that some of the scenes were filmed in Spain but I'm wondering if I dreamt that up? I'm sure at that time that SA would have been as cheap to film in as Spain...

Bah - I got the Officer when I did it, not nearly so pretty and definitely not worth posting! But come to think of it, I might try it again... I've never heard of Steampunk, but I definitely like the idea! And my mind hasn't at all flicked to Pros/Steampunk AU fic, not at all...
